Gift Box, owned by Marinda Beyleveld, is a gorgeous gift shop tucked away inside Salon Louise in the Bougain Villas in Klein Windhoek. It's filled with a variety of gifts for every taste. Gift Box also has a deli range. As well as decor.
How long have you been in business and how did you get started?
I took over Gift Box in December 2016. I am a client at Salon Louise and when I heard that Gift Box is closing down. I phoned the previous owner and we agreed that I take over the shop.
What inspired you to take it over?
Owning my own retail business was always a big dream....
What would you say was your biggest challenge to overcome?
To have the best business and financial plan to secure the success of my shop for the future.
What is your favourite part of your business?
It's very rewarding when you see a customer excited to find a great item. So customer satisfaction is my biggest reward.
What change are you looking forward to most this year?
New clientele. The growth of my business and challenging myself more...
Where do you go to find inspiration for your business?
I go to markets and festivals to find out what people like... and that inspires me to grow in my business.
Do you have a hidden talent?
I believe there are hidden talents in all of us. So maybe I have one, I excited to find out what it is.
How do you get a connection between you and your clients?
I aim to be honest and realistic about the services that I provide and the products that I am selling. I believe in my products.
What gift is always a hit with your clients?
Hampers are always a hit. Clients are able to choose what ever they want in the hamper. Usually my clients select a combination of deli products with unique handcrafted ceramic spoons and bowls.
Please tell me more about the deli side of The Gift Box.
Apart from Deli products, Gift Box also has a small menu specially developed for the clientele of Salon Louise. Gift Box saw the need to provide such a service, so that the clients can relax and enjoy refreshments whilst their service is being completed.
What other profession would you love to try?
To become a Vet... Lol!!!
Anything else about your awesome business you would like to share?
People buy gifts every day. If it’s not someone’s birthday, someone is getting married or someone just had a baby...there would always be a need for gifting. Special celebrations like Christmas, Valentine’s day, Mother’s day, Father’s day, Easter or just to say thank you, Gift Box is the answer to that special gift.
